Teacher Rights
Right to Representation
In 1975 the U.S. Supreme Court recognized an employee’s right to union representation in an investigatory interview. REMEMBER: YOU MUST ASSERT YOUR RIGHT TO REPRESENTATION BY POLITELY STATING: “I would like to have my union rep present at this meeting.”
If you feel your rights have been violated you may have a Grievance
The grievance process must follow a specified time line in order to be pursued. Use the Grievance Checklist as soon as possible and be sure to document the events happening. If you have any questions or concerns contact the MSEA President and/or the Teacher Rights Chairman.
