Members of MSEA are driven by a commitment to provide an excellent public-school education to all children, every day.
Every single member of MSEA has a voice in our association and a responsibility to uphold high standards of academic achievement. We constantly strive to build strong connections with students, parents, and the communities in which we live and work. Together, MSEA members bring a wealth of diversity and experience to our classrooms that will prepare the next generation of young Alaskans with the skills and knowledge to be productive members of society.
If you ever have questions or ideas for your MSEA president, you can contact Justin LaCoss at msea@mseak.org.

2025-2026 MSEA Member Conference Scholarship
MSEA is proud to be able to support the Professional Development of our members by offering three scholarships for up to $1,000 each to aid those who have found a valuable conference they wish to attend but need help funding the endeavor.
Eligibility and Application: To be considered for the scholarship, you must be an active MSEA member and submit a complete application by November 30th, 2025. Priority for the scholarship will be given to individuals who have not received the scholarship in the past.
Participant Acceptance of Scholarship: By December 18th, 2025, scholarship recipients will need to notify the Scholarship Committee if they still wish to accept and use the scholarship.
Participant Reimbursement and Attendance: The scholarship will be dispersed in the form of expense reimbursement. Reimbursement is given to participants to help defray participation costs such as travel, conference cost, lodging, and any other relevant expenses. Receipts, including boarding passes, must be provided. Proof of attendance is also required for reimbursement. This scholarship can cover up to $1,000 worth of expenses. If you can’t afford to wait for reimbursement, please let us know and we can work to pay expenses directly. Applicants will be informed of results no later than December 7th, 2025.
Professional/Personal Leave: Participants must receive approval from their building principal or the District Office to receive professional leave for this event. If professional leave is not granted, MSEA members will need to use personal leave to cover days off.
